The Rotary Club of Cedaredge proudly recognized Cedaredge High School senior Cruz Alejandre as its Student of the Month during a recent club meeting.
Cruz introduced himself as an active student-athlete competing in both basketball and football. He earned all-state honors in football and shared how the sport has helped him develop strong leadership skills and an outstanding work ethic.
Beyond the classroom and the field, Cruz has also demonstrated impressive entrepreneurial drive. Together with his brother Jose, he operates a successful lawn care business that maintains more than 20 properties on the local golf course, providing weekly maintenance, snow removal, and landscaping services. The brothers also spent last summer harvesting peaches on the family’s orchard plot near Cedaredge.
Teacher Travis Eason praised Cruz’s dedication, noting that he has an outstanding work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. Looking ahead, Cruz plans to pursue a career in construction — a field he says fits his personality and offers strong, steady opportunities.
A particularly meaningful moment came when Cruz’s father addressed Rotary members in both Spanish and English, sharing his journey from Mexico in the 1980s and expressing pride in the opportunities his sons have in the United States. Cruz closed by thanking his father for his sacrifices and said his goal is to give back to his parents for their hard work and support.
